For the award of Master of International Law Studies (MIntLawSt), you must successfully complete 160 credit points as prescribed below:

Standard pathway:

  • Gain at least 120 credit points from listed core courses and
  • Gain up to 40 credit points from listed elective courses

Research pathway:

  • Gain at least 90 credit points from listed core courses and
  • Gain up to 30 credit points from listed elective courses and
  • Gain 40 credit points of Research courses.

To be eligible for the award of Master of International Law Studies (MIntLawSt), a student admitted with 40 credit points of advanced standing must acquire 120 credit points as prescribed below:

Standard pathway:

  • Gain at least 90 credit points from listed core courses and
  • Gain up to 30 credit points from listed elective courses

Research pathway:

  • Gain at least 60 credit points from listed core courses and
  • Gain up to 20 credit points from listed elective courses and
  • Gain 40 credit points of Research courses.

This degree may be awarded with Distinction where a student achieves a minimum program GPA of 6.5 with no failed courses. The words "This award was achieved with Distinction" will be recorded on the testamur.

Exit point

To be eligible to exit the Masters program with the Graduate Certificate in International Law award, a student must acquire 40 credit points of courses.

To be eligible to exit the Masters program with the Graduate Diploma of International Law award, a student must acquire 80 credit points of courses.

To exit, a student should apply for a program transfer.

Note: Students who exit with the Graduate Diploma will not be eligible for re-admission to complete the Master of International Law.
