Trimester 1 and Trimester 2
Become a leader in the built environment sector by creating sustainable cities and liveable spaces in any context from regional to metro environments. You'll understand the challenges of urban and environmental planning and be equipped with the creative problem-solving skills to deal with them. You'll gain in-depth knowledge about sustainable design practices from hands-on experience and industry connections you make during your study. Your skills will help improve people's lives and their communities, making you a highly sought-after graduate by councils, consultancies and non-profits alike.
To be classed as a full-time student, you are required to enrol in a minimum number of credit points each standard study period. The minimum credit points for full-time enrolment in this program is 30 credit points.
Trimester 1 and Trimester 2 are deemed standard study periods. As Trimester 3 is a non-standard study period, continuing students moving from one year to the next will not be required to study during this trimester to be eligible for student income support.
Domestic students who commence in Trimester 3 may be eligible for student income support from the onset of study provided they are enrolled full-time in this study period.
Please refer to the Australian Government website for more details.
This program is offered full-time on-campus only at the Gold Coast. The program includes some Trimester 3 core courses which may be offered in intensive mode.
Taking a leave of absence from this program is permitted, subject to conditions outlined in the Enrolment Procedure.
Work-integrated learning activities integrate theoretical learning with its application in the workplace. The inclusion of work-integrated learning activities in this degree program demonstrates Griffith's commitment to preparing its graduates for success in their working life.
The second trimester of the third year of the program includes a compulsory industry focused project.
You'll be prepared to work in the private sector, government and non-governmental organisations on urban policy, development preparation and assessment, transport and local area planning and regional and strategic planning. Your unique skills enable you to easily liaise between architects and the planning and development sector to ensure project success. You'll be able to evaluate, analyse and create innovative solutions and communicate them effectively to stakeholders.
