This program was formerly known as the Bachelor of Psychological Science/Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Criminal Justice (in 2007) and the Bachelor of Behavioural Science/Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Criminal Justice (prior to 2007).
Understanding human behaviour and the many variables affecting it is fascinating work and a key aid to understanding people caught up in the criminal justice system, which is the focus of the psychological science component of this degree. The criminal justice component comprises studies in criminology and the Australian legal and social systems.
As a graduate of this program, you will be qualified to help meet the growing need in the criminal justice system for professionals with a background in psychology.
Year 1 provides the foundation knowledge across the disciplines of psychology and criminology, including law, political science and sociology.
In Years 2 to 4, the program develops the studies of psychology, criminology and criminal justice further. An optional professional placement in the final year offers you practical experience in a justice-related workplace for one day a week. The program has compulsory courses and electives in both psychology and criminology with 20CP of free choice electives. All criminology and criminal justice courses are available on-campus and by distance education.
