Admission requirements

For International applicants of countries with recognised qualifications, admission to the Bachelor of Medical Science to commence will be determined by the following criteria:

  • academic achievement for Year 12 applicants in the year before entry
  • OR academic achievement for applicants who have completed their senior secondary studies up to one year prior to application and who have not previously attempted tertiary study at Diploma level or higher

An international student is a person who is not Australian citizen, a New Zealand citizen, a Pacific Engagement visa holder or the holder of a permanent resident/humanitarian visa.

This program is available to International students for study in Australia at Griffith University.

International students applying to study on-campus in Australia will require a student visa or another type of visa which does not preclude them from studying in Australia.

There are limited places available for this program. Selection for admission is competitive as the number of applicants generally exceeds the places available.

Confirmation of a place in this program will be sent to applicants, when they have accepted the offer, and met all conditions listed in the offer. When the limit is reached and there are no available places, applicants will be notified that the program is full.

Applicants awarded an offer are not permitted to defer an offer and should reapply for the next available intake.

Australian Year 12 International - Application process

All applications must be submitted via QTAC by 30 December 2024 (AEST) to be considered for entry into this program in 2025.

Internal Transfer: Griffith students may not apply for the Bachelor of Medical Science by submitting an internal transfer.

Language requirements

English language requirements apply to International applicants and other applicants whose previous study was undertaken in a language other than English. The minimum English language requirements for such applicants for entry to this program are as follows:

  • A minimum overall band score of 7.0 on IELTS (Academic) with no sub-score of less than 6.5
  • OR a minimum score of 580 on TOEFL
  • OR an internet-based (iBT) TOEFL score of 92 (no score less than 22)
  • OR no score less than 4 in each skill of the ISLPR (conducted by ISLPR Language Services only)
  • OR a minimum overall score of 185 (no score less than 176) on C2 Proficiency (formerly Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English)
  • OR an overall score of 65 in the Pearson Test of English (Academic) with no score less than 58.

English test results must be no more than two years old.

The Direct Entry Program (DEP) pathway is not accepted for this program.
