This degree, designed for high-achieving secondary school leavers, provides the opportunity for you to progress directly into our Doctor of Medicine (5099)*.
In your first year, you will be introduced to the basic sciences underpinning medical science - chemistry, biology, anatomy, physiology, microbiology, genetics, and biostatistics. You will also undertake a course in health and science communication where you will learn to evaluate health and science information and communicate it to a wide range of audiences.
In second year, you will study these areas in greater depth and take medically focused courses in immunology, infectious disease, pharmacology, and biochemistry. You'll understand the concepts of foundational sciences that underpin disease and develop skills of problem-solving and clinical reasoning.
Honours is available through an additional year of study.
* The Doctor of Medicine is an extended Masters program (AQF Level 9).
