About this program
You will learn through a problem-based curriculum, active learning in small groups and practical work placements that facilitate the integration of theory and practice. As a speech pathologist, you will be equipped to work in a wide range of health and educational settings. You will develop research literacy and enhance your ability to respond to changes and provide quality services throughout your professional life.
Attendance information
The program is offered on-campus and a full-time basis using the in-person mode of delivery every trimester. The program includes a series of professional placements as detailed below. Students will need to be available to attend the on-campus teaching plus professional placements as specified.
The professional placement requirements for the program are:
- Year 1/Trimester 1: 1 full day per week
- Year 1/Trimester 2: 2 full days per week
- Year 2/Trimester 1: 2 full days per week
- Year 2/Trimester 2: 4 full days per week
Work-integrated learning
Work-integrated learning activities (professional placements) integrate theoretical learning with its application in the workplace. The inclusion of work-integrated learning activities in the degree program demonstrates Griffith's commitment to preparing its graduates for success in their working life.
In this program you will spend time in the work/professional environment undertaking placements at various locations. Placements in the second year of the course may be outside of the Gold Coast area including Brisbane metropolitan, northern New South Wales and (by negotiation) interstate or overseas. Total work placement (hours): 864.

Program accreditation
The Master of Speech Pathology is accredited by Speech Pathology Australia. Upon completion of this Masters program, you will be eligible for professional membership to practice as a fully accredited Speech Pathologist.

Professional Practice requirements
There are placements associated with this program and before undertaking professional experience placements, all students in this program are required to have completed the following by the end of their first trimester of study:

- The indicative fee represents the expected average fee for an annual full-time study load (80 credit points). This is based on average study patterns across courses and the Australian Government's broad discipline areas (student contribution bands). The indicative annual tuition fee is calculated based on a standard full-time study load which is usually 80 credit points.
The indicative annual tuition fee is based on current conditions and available data and should only be used as a guide. These fees are reviewed annually and are subject to change.
Tuition fees
- A fee-paying postgraduate student pays tuition fees.
- Students are liable for tuition fees for the courses they are enrolled in as at the census date.
- The tuition fee for students who commence their program prior to 2014 is charged according to the approved program fee for the trimester in which the student commenced the program.
- The tuition fee for students who commence their program from 2014 onwards is charged according to the approved program fee for the trimester in which the student is enrolled.

Additional fee information
This postgraduate program has Commonwealth Supported Places. If you are eligible, the Australian Government will contribute to the cost of this program but you will also be required to make a contribution.
Quotas are applied for admission to the Commonwealth Supported Places. Where demand exceeds the number of available places, not all eligible applicants who meet minimum program entry requirements may be offered a place. Assessment for admission is based on meritorious performance. If you are not successful in gaining a Commonwealth Supported Place, you may be eligible for a Fee-Paying Postgraduate place. Please note that deferrals are not permitted for programs with Commonwealth Supported Places.
