For the award of Bachelor of Psychological Science/Master of Mental Health Practice (BPsychSc/MMentHPrac), you must successfully complete 320 credit points, made up of the core courses AND

  • 40 credit points of listed Psychology electives or free-choice electives

AND

  • Dissertation pathway:
    • 30 credit points for the Mental Health dissertation courses; AND
    • 10 credit points of listed Research electives; AND
    • 10 credit points of listed Mental Health electives;
    OR
  • Practice pathway:
    • 20 credit points of listed Mental Health electives.


    Note: All students will commence in the Practice stream. Students wishing to complete the Dissertation stream can transfer to that stream when all the following eligibility criteria have been successfully met:

    • achievement of a Grade of at least 5 in 7001HSV Foundations of Research Inquiry;
    • achievement of a GPA of at least 5.5 for all courses in the program (except Dissertation courses);
    • the suitability of the proposed dissertation topic;
    • the resources available to support the candidature including availability of appropriate supervision.

    Other program requirements

    You must successfully complete

    • no more than 100 credit points of Level 1 courses (the first number of a course code denotes the level).

    This degree may be awarded with Distinction where a student achieves a minimum program GPA of 6.5 with no failed courses. The words "This award was achieved with Distinction" will be recorded on the testamur.

    Progression requirements

    To be eligible to progress to Year 3, you must successfully meet the following criteria:

    1. Gain a GPA of at least 4.0 in the 120 credit points of required Level 1 and Level 2 core Psychology courses.
    2. If you fail to meet criteria (1), you will be deemed ineligible for progression to Year 3.
    3. If you fail to meet criteria (1), you will be required to transfer to the Bachelor of Psychological Science (1012) or Bachelor of Psychological Science (1312) and meet the degree requirements for that award.

To exit this vertical degree with the Bachelor of Psychological Science, you will be required to complete the 240 credit points for the Bachelor of Psychological Science. If you have graduated with the Bachelor of Psychological Science and are seeking to complete the Master of Mental Health Practice, you will be required to complete the 120 credit points to be eligible for that award.
